A department responsible for history, the 22,284 km2 of the Yvelines are one of the places in the Paris region where this sense of good life exudes; alone or with family active or retired. With a housing supply 80% higher than the French departmental average, the 1,427,000 people in the department live in 621,000 dwellings. Choosing the Yvelines means living green while being next to Paris: the forests of the Yvelines (Maisons Laffitte, Saint Germain en Laye...) cover 30% of the total area of the department, making it the most wooded department in Ile-de-France. The 78 is also, to be able to afford a living environment at the water's edge: Conflans Sainte Honorine, Andresy, Villennes sur Seine... The dynamics are strong here: associations, cultural activity (theatre, art and essay cinemas...) and sports, services to people, care offers, quality early childhood schools in high school and higher education (Sciences Po in Saint Germain in Laye...). As for golf and horse enthusiasts, the city of the fetish animal is Maisons Laffitte (equestrian centres, racetrack...) and 26 golf courses are located in the department including Maisons Laffitte, Villennes sur Seine, Chambourcy, Saint Nom la Bretêche... Working in Paris and living in department 78 is simplified by a very high coverage of public transport (RER A, SNCF lines for Saint Lazard). It is the possibility to be at La Défense in a few minutes: 10 minutes from Saint Germain in Laye, 15 minutes from Maisons Lafitte, 21 from Achères. Finally, by combining dynamic city centres with a provincial and Parisian spirit, the department combines families and their young children with their elders, to the delight of living together (67% of the inhabitants are under 44 years of age). Provincial at heart, I have lived in the Yvelines for more than 20 years.
